| Marty’s guitar playing history goes all the way back to fourth grade when he received his first guitar. By high school, Marty was becoming well acquainted with not only the guitar, but clarinet and the French horn. It was there at Hoover High in Fresno where Marty picked up the bass guitar and began playing with a well known local band at the time, “Onus”. Now, 33 years later, he definitely shines as he lays it down solid with the smooth dance sounds of the “Stardusters”. Some highlights from the past years would include a four year tour with the “Smoky Mountain Band”, which turned into the “Afterthought Band”. Later, parts of that band would join Marty back in Fresno to form the “Vibro Champs”. The “Champs” were able to gain enough notoriety to eventually open for such artists as “Norton Bufflo”, “Eric Burden” of the “Animals” and “Soft White Underbelly” (Blue Oyster Cult). Marty also knows his way around sound and recording equipment. Much of his apprenticeship was working with the popular bands “38 Special” and “Toto”. Marty’s expertise with both music performance and sound engineering makes for an unbeatable combination providing the melodic foundation the “Stardusters” enjoy today! |
